The highlight of my morning visit to Reculver today was coming across a confiding male Northern Wheatear a short way on from the Towers. Initially I saw it sitting on one of the rock groynes, and as it was a nice bright individual, thought it would be worth attempting a few photos. Sometimes the Wheatears here at Reculver in Spring can be quite skittish, so I was pleasantly surprised that this individual reminaed unperturbed as I crawled closer towards it. I think these must be my favourite Wheatear images to date.
After a short while on the rocks it hopped down on to the beach to feed. It was one of those warm mornings with lots of flying insects along the beach and seawall, which it also flew onto for a few minutes. In the end I had a nice little collection of different types of image.
Before I left it flew back the rock groyne, and this time I decided to try something a bit different, and attempt to capture Reculver Towers in the background. I'm not overly pleased with the results, as the sun had somewhat disappeared by this point, but it's something I've wanted to try for a few years so was pleased to get something of this style.
