One of the goals of the trip was to tick off a few of the dragonfly and damselfly species we’d yet to find or photograph in Bulgaria. I was still missing several Lestidae, including Dark Spreadwing, one of the more distinctive species. We’d seen online that there were some records from Lake Pomorie, but were not particularly hopeful of finding our own. It came then as a bit of a surprise to stumble across one, and then again the following evening, right by the Salt Museum. We also found a mating pair at Atanasovsko Ezero, but all the photos below came from the second session at Pomorie, when it posed nicely from time to time.
